1. What fluentz is
fluentz is an online English coach for Spanish speakers working from CEFR level B2 towards C2. It generates grammar lessons and exercise banks, grades your answers, records and evaluates your speaking, schedules review of your mistakes and shows your progress on a CEFR-based index.
Much of the content and all of the grading is produced by artificial intelligence. It is good, and it is not infallible (see “AI-generated content”). fluentz is a study tool, not an accredited examination body.
2. Your account
- You need an account with a valid email address and a password. Keep the password private; everything done with your account is treated as done by you.
- One account per person. Accounts are personal and cannot be shared, sold or transferred.
- You must be old enough to enter into a binding agreement where you live, or have a parent or guardian who accepts these terms for you.
- Tell us straight away if you believe someone else is using your account.
3. Free trial, subscription and payment
- Every new account includes a 7-day free trial of the full product. No payment details are needed to start it, and nothing is charged when it ends.
- After the trial, features that cost us money to run (AI grading, speaking evaluation, generating new content) require the Pro subscription: MXN 249 per month or MXN 1990 per year, plus any applicable taxes. Your lessons, history and data remain readable without a subscription.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from Settings → Billing; you keep access until the end of the period already paid for. We do not refund partial periods unless the law where you live requires it.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We never receive or store your full card number.
- If a price changes, we tell you at least 30 days before it applies to your next renewal. If you do not agree, cancel before the renewal.
4. Acceptable use
Use fluentz to learn English. Do not:
- share your account, or access someone else’s;
- scrape, bulk-download or redistribute lessons, exercises, exams or prompts;
- probe, overload or interfere with the service, or try to bypass billing or usage limits;
- upload recordings or text that are unlawful, that belong to someone else without permission, or that contain other people’s personal data;
- use the service to build a competing product or to train models on our content.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.
5. AI-generated content
Lessons, exercises, exam items, grading, corrections, speaking evaluations and level estimates are generated by AI models and rules we have designed. They can contain errors or judgement calls you disagree with. Use them as a strong signal, not as a verdict.
Level estimates are expressed on the CEFR scale for convenience. They are not official certificates and do not represent any examination board.
Where a grading result looks wrong, you can dispute it inside the app and we will re-evaluate. Both the old and the new evaluation are kept.
6. Your content and shared content
Your content (your answers, voice recordings, transcripts and evaluations) stays yours. You give us permission to store it, process it with the providers listed in our Privacy Policy, and show it back to you, for as long as you keep your account. It is never shown to other learners.
Shared content (grammar lessons, exercise banks, exam items and speaking prompts) is generated by fluentz and shared by every learner at the same level. When your answer to an exercise is judged an acceptable alternative, that alternative may be added to the shared exercise so the next learner is not marked wrong. Nothing in that process identifies you.
Shared content and the fluentz software, design and brand are ours or our licensors’. You may use them inside the service for your own learning and for nothing else.
7. Availability and changes
We work hard to keep fluentz running, but we provide it “as is” and “as available”. Features depend on third-party AI, speech and payment providers and may be delayed or unavailable when those providers are. We may add, change or retire features; if a change removes something material from a paid plan, we tell you before your next renewal.
8. Closing your account
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account. Deletion removes your profile, attempts, recordings, transcripts and evaluations as described in the Privacy Policy. Any active subscription is cancelled at the same time.
We may close or suspend an account that breaks these terms, has not paid, or that we must close to comply with the law. Where reasonable, we tell you first and give you a chance to export your data.
9. Liability
To the extent the law allows, fluentz is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost opportunities, or the outcome of any exam, interview or job application. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms limits rights that consumer law gives you and that cannot be waived.
10. Governing law and changes to these terms
These terms are governed by the laws of the country where fluentz is operated, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes go to the courts of that country unless mandatory consumer law gives you the right to use your local courts.
We may update these terms. When the change is material we will email you or show a notice in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use fluentz after that date means you accept the new terms.
